Preserve news: Godwin Ranch guzzler

A project a year in the making, the Godwin Ranch Cave Preserve wildlife guzzler, is finally complete! Just a few days in, and there is already evidence of soft-pawed users.

Preserve Manager Eléonore Chouquetta reported that the yearlong project to build a wildlife watering station at the Williamson County preserve was mostly completed in December.
The guzzler was financed in part by the regular yearly budget allocated to the preserve, and in part by people who donated materials.

Thanks to all who contributed time, materials and skills! Jim “Crash” Kennedy donated about $800 in steel to the project. Katheryn Jaeger and Garrett Smith were instrumental in locating and transporting salvaged goods such as the basin, roof pieces, and a pallet to serve as the tank’s platform. Garrett and Katheryn also were master builders for the project.

Other contributors include Richard Zarria, Lydia Hernandez, and Roger Myers.
Congratulations, all!
